Advising

Academic advising is an integral resource for your academic journey, and your advisor is here to support you as you pursue your path of study.

To stay on track with your studies and make the most of your Mason experience, check in with your advisor at least once a semester.

Meet with an academic advisor to discuss:

  • Course registration, academic challenges, academic planning, and course recommendations
  • Campus opportunities and resources
  • Ways to integrate internships and independent research into your academic plan

Track your Degree Progress

While contacting your academic advisor at least once a semester is important to ensure you are on track for graduation, you can also check your degree requirements and progress towards completion at any time by running your own degree evaluation through Degree Works.

Make an Appointment

Current students can view advising availability and make an appointment online via the following steps:

  1. Go to GMU Navigate and log in with your NetID and password

  2. If it is your first time logging into the system, you will need to confirm your password-sharing preferences before clicking ‘accept’

  3. Follow the prompts to search for an open advising appointment and schedule

Keep in mind:

  • All Advising appointments are currently offered Virtually
  • You cannot schedule an appointment less than 24 hours in advance
  • You need to cancel the appointment through EAB or email your advisor as soon as possible if you will not be able to attend your appointment
  • You may make one appointment per day, and it is recommended you not schedule any follow-up appointments until you have spoken with your advisor as one appointment may resolve your issue
